Small rectangular box six-point star (presentation two)
As part of Montessori sensorial, you will be teaching children how to form a six-pointed star using triangles from the Small Rectangular Box. This box contains twelve plastic scalene triangles.
The directress will teach the child how to make a six-point star by replacing each triangle on to mat individually, placing the acute angle of the triangles towards the centre. Once you’ve used six of your scalene triangles, your star will be complete (as pictured below). The children usually enjoy making the six-pointed star very much.
What does making the six-pointed star in Montessori teach the children?
Children experiment with the triangles to see what they can build and to follow instructions to build the six-pointed star. This activity is a good pathway to maths and understanding geometry.
