Bead chains
Bead chains introduction: stacking squares and cubes
The directress introduces the child to squares and cubes using the Montessori Bead frame. This is a wonderful activity to give the child practice when working with the beads, as well as the development of the child’s gross and fine motor movement.
Bead chains: showing the square of a number
The aim of this activity is to form, count, and label the square of a number. This activity promotes the child’s visual discrimination, it teaches him how to skip count, and it shows the child how to work out the square of a number in a concrete way.
Bead chains: showing the cube of a number
This activity’s aim is very similar to the one mentioned above. The difference here is the child will learn how to calculate the cube of a number in a concrete way.
