Matching the Touch Fabrics

Matching the Touch Fabrics

How is the first presentation with the Touch Fabrics presented?

The directress asks the child to unroll the floor mat vertically, she takes out the first set of fabrics and places them on the left- hand side of the mat. The child assists her in unpacking the second set of the fabrics and placing them randomly on the right- hand side of the mat.

The directress shows the child how to put the blindfolds on and how to feel the first piece of fabric with her left hand while feeling with her right hand the other pieces on the right- hand side, to feel for the matching piece of fabric. Once she has found the matching piece, she places the corresponding piece of fabric next to each other.

The directress continues in this manner until all of the fabrics are matched accordingly.

What skills do children acquire with the first presentation with the Touch Fabrics?

The children acquire many different skills in this activity, for example, one to one correspondence (working one on one with the teacher), the child also develops a sense of order and this activity promotes the development of fine motor coordination.
