Colour Box One (presentation two)
This presentation is done by the directress doing a three-period lesson with the child. The directress uses only one set of the primary colours which are the red, yellow, and blue coloured tablets.
How a three-period lesson is done with Colour Box One
First period: The directress places the red colour tablet in front of the child, then she says “this is red, can you say red?”. Then she isolates it by placing the red tablet to one side. She does the same with the blue and yellow tablets.
Second period: The directress places all three tablets in front of the child on the mat. She asks the child to show her red, yellow, and blue. She muddles them up and she asks the child to show her the colours she calls out again. The directress spends a lot of time in this period.
Third period: The directress isolates again by asking the child to name each colour one by one.
The directress consolidates the lesson by encouraging the child to name each tablet by pointing at each one individually.
What does the child learn by doing a three-period lesson with Colour Box One?
The child learns the names of primary colours, the child also becomes more familiar with colours, and a three-period lesson promotes language development.
