Touch Tablets (presentation two)
Children learn to grade the touch tablets from roughest to smoothest using the first box of Touch Tablets. The child’s sense of sight is taken away by either averting his eyes or having them blindfolded.
How is the second presentation with Touch Tablets presented?
The directress shows the child how to hold the box carefully with two hands. She unpacks the tablets from the box and places them randomly on the floor mat.
The directress averts her eyes, feeling for the roughest tablet, when she finds it she will place it to the far left-hand side of the floor mat. She continues in the same manner until all of the tablets have been graded from roughest to smoothest.
What does the second presentation with the Touch Tablets teach the child?
This activity is indirect preparation for the Sandpaper Numbers, Sandpaper Letters, and the Sandpaper Globe, as well as an introduction to opposites, comparatives, and superlatives.
