Geometric Cabinet presentation seven (using the third to sixth drawers)
How a three-period lesson is done with the Geometric Cabinet
The directress does a three-period lesson with the child to teach him the names of three different shapes from the Geometric Cabinet. She uses one shape that the child knows and two shapes he doesn’t know from the third to sixth drawers of the Geometric Cabinet.
First period: the directress introduces one inset at a time, naming it and feeling it in the correct manner. She asks the child to do the same, she isolates each inset by placing it to one side.
Second period: the directress spends a lot of time in this period, she asks the child if he can show her the shapes she calls out for.
Third period: the directress asks the child to tell her the names of each shape, isolating each one by placing it to one side.
The directress consolidates the lesson by encouraging the child to name each shape that he learnt, she points at each inset as she does so.
