Thermic Tablets (presentation three)
The child learns the names of the Montessori Thermic Tablets by doing a three-period lesson. For example, steel, wool, and felt.
First period: the directress tells the child the names of each tablet and asks him to repeat after her. She isolates each tablet by placing them to one side one by one.
Second period: the directress spends a lot of time in this period. She brings all three of the tablets forward, she asks the child to show her the different tablets she calls out for. She muddles them up and does it again.
Third period: the directress asks the child if he can tell her the names of each tablet. She isolates each one by placing it to one side.
The directress consolidates the lesson by encouraging the child to name each tablet individually as she points at each one.
