How is this activity presented?

The directress invites a group of children to sit around the mat with her. She begins the activity by writing a verb in red koki on a piece of paper and gives it to a child, for example, hop, skip, run, etc. The child is encouraged to act out what is on the piece of paper, the other children must guess what action it is.

The directress then writes an adverb in orange koki on a piece of paper, and places it to the right of the written verb, for example: skip quickly and the child must then skip quickly. The directress repeats in the same manner with all of the children, first writing the verb and then adding the adverb.

If the child has grasped the concept, the directress shows the child the symbol for the verb and asks him to place it above the written verbs on the mat. She then introduces the symbol for the adverb - an orange circle and tells the children to place the symbol above the written adverbs on the mat.

The directress consolidates the lesson and thanks the children for working with her.
