Tree nomenclatures: for the reading child
This activity is done with the children who can read.
The directress begins by placing the unlabelled set of cards on the top of the mat, (the natural coloured picture is placed down first). The directress briefly discusses each part of the tree as she places the remaining pictures down. She then matches one of the labelled picture cards to the corresponding unlabelled picture at the top.
The directress lets the child continue matching the labelled pictures to the unlabelled pictures. She then begins to match the labels, reading each one as she does so. She invites the child to have a turn and helps him to pack away when is finished.
