Silence game (group)
What is the Silence game?
The Silence Game is a lovely and relaxing activity all children seem to enjoy. The directress begins by guiding the children outside to sit under a tree. She then usually asks them to close their eyes and listen out for different sounds. She might guide the children and say to them: ‘‘Can you hear the birds sing?’’
She repeats in the same manner, asking the children to relax and take deep breathes while closing their eyes and listening to nature.
What skills do children acquire by playing the Silence game?
This activity helps kids calm down and relax, it encourages children to have a love and respect for nature, it helps to develop their self-control and have controlled movement throughout the activity, as well as this activity sharpens the children’s auditory sense.
