Model animals
The directress invites the child to sit on the floor with her. She reminds the child of the different animals that were seen on their field trip. The directress then starts unpacking each model animal onto the floor mat, briefly discussing each one as she does so. If the child does not know the names of the animals, then a three-period lesson can be done.
When all of the animals are placed on the mat, she starts to read the labels with the child. The child is encouraged to assist her in matching the labels to the corresponding animal.
