Nature walk (group activity)
How does a directress take children on a nature walk?
The directress invites a group of children on a nature walk. She leads the children outside in their environment to explore the beauty of nature. The children are encouraged to find different specimens from nature to put in the specimen basket. The children might collect leaves, flowers, grass, etc. The directress usually introduces a magnifying glass to the children and shows them how it works. This helps them observe things in more detail.
Put the collected objects onto the nature table
The directress then takes the group of kids back into the classroom and helps them to lay out all of their findings from outside out on the mat. All of the children’s things that they brought inside are then discusses and put on the nature table.
This activity makes the child aware of the world around them, and they learn to have a love and respect for nature which is very important for children at a young age.
