Press Stud Frame
If you aren’t sure what a press stud is, then you’ll certainly know what it is by sight. Press studs can also be known as snap fasteners or poppers. They are two interlocking discs that ‘pop’ together on things like raincoats or school bags.
What is a Press Stud Frame?
The Press Stud Frame is similar to the button frame and the velcro frame. The Press Stud Frame has two sides of cloth with about seven or eight press studs joining the two sides together.
Children will learn how to undo and do up the press studs in the frame. The children will be encouraged to hold down the left-hand side part of the frame with their left hand while gently lifting the studs with the right hand. The children will continue in this manner until all of the studs are undone. Children will then open both flaps of the frame, then close them again, holding down the left flap with their left hand and closing the studs with their right hand.
Using the Press Stud Frame is good for coordination because the child will need to match up the two halves of the press studs exactly to push them together. Snapping the two halves together of press studs also needs a bit of pressure too. Children will practice crossing the midline and concentration on this task.
