Carrying a Table
This is one of our favourite preliminary tasks in Montessori because it requires the children to work together as a team to problem-solve how to carry the table from one place to another.
How are tables carried in Montessori?
Depending on the age of the children, they will need to either take a corner of the table each if there are four children or an end of the table each if there are two children. Carrying a table helps children work together cohesively to achieve the task. This is so important as it teaches the child the importance of planning and teamwork to achieve the goal of carrying the table.
Once carrying a table correctly has been mastered, they will be able to see the importance of working together to succeed in other team-based tasks and the rewards of working together.
