Carrying a Pair of Scissors
One of the biggest things that frighten teachers in the classroom is letting children loose carrying scissors. Carrying a pair of scissors safely is something that all children should learn, as it teaches children how to carrying a pair of scissors safely without the risk of hurting themselves or other children. This instills responsibility in the child.
Teaching a child to carry scissors
Children are taught to hold scissors properly, with the pointed end facing down towards the floor and the scissors held next to the child’s thigh. In preliminary skills, children are taught to never run with scissors or wave them around. Carrying a pair of scissors well is an essential part of Montessori classroom safety.
