Sorting objects of the same colour
This elementary activity is very popular with young children and usually draws them in by the presentation being colorful. Children will learn to sort the same colour objects from a tub of many different things. Red objects are collected by the child and put to one side. Blue objects are taken out and put to one side, yellow, and so on. Objects are sorted by the same colour.
Can any objects be sorted by colour?
Absolutely! The object of this activity is for kids to be able to spot alike things and group them. You can group toy cars by colour, different coloured butterflies, coloured pieces of card, whatever.
How does sorting colours help the child?
Sorting different colours helps children to learn how to sequence, which indirectly prepares their little minds for Mathematics. Sorting coloured buttons (or other objects) teaches children about order, colour identification, colour matching, and concentration.
